A fire destroyed a motor home Thursday morning in Vancouver’s West Minnehaha neighborhood.
Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched at 10:26 a.m. to 4312 N.E. 12th Ave., for a report of a fire.
No one was home at the time, and the neighbors who called in the fire thought it was a brush fire initially, fire department spokesman Bryan Fredrickson said.
The first arriving crew reported that fire was consuming a motor home, parked about 10 feet from a garage. No one was inside the garage, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Firefighters called for additional units and started dousing flames from the exterior of the motor home, Fredrickson said. The live-in vehicles tend to be lightweight and burn quickly, he said.
The fire was extinguished in about 12 minutes. Three engines, a ladder truck and two battalion chiefs responded. A crew from Clark County Fire District 6 also responded to help, as the property is on the northern edge of the fire department’s coverage area.
