A woman was found dead in the driver's seat of her car after it crashed and burst into flames Monday morning near Buckley in Pierce County, emergency officials said. Firefighters and deputies responded to the scene, in the 28900 block of Sumner Buckley Highway East, at around 8 a.m. after receiving reports of a car fire, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue. As a crew worked to extinguish the flames, the driver was found dead inside the vehicle. No other information was immediately available about her. No one else was in the vehicle. A preliminary investigation found that the car veered off the roadway and caught fire, said the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
