A deputy and an officer are being credited with saving a mother and girl's life after they were both trapped in a burning SUV following a crash in Graham Saturday evening. The mom was driving with her 11-year-old daughter in the backseat of their SUV around 5 p.m. when it was rear-ended at a high speed by another vehicle in the 8200 block of 224th Street East, according to Assistant Fire Chief Steve Richards with Graham Fire & Rescue. Both the mom and the girl went unconscious as the SUV erupted into flames, fire officials said. A Pierce County Sheriff's deputy and off-duty Tukwila Police officer were the first two on the scene. "When the deputy arrived, he got out and started trying to pull the driver out (as did) the Tukwila officer," Richards said. The mother was unconscious when she was pulled from the wreckage, but she managed to wake up.
