Firefighters from East Jefferson Fire Rescue quickly doused a fire in a home in Port Hadlock-Irondale Saturday morning.
Arriving firefighters saw smoke coming from the attic of the home on Rhody Drive near its intersection with Ness' Corner Road.
Units from East Jefferson Fire Rescue arrived at the scene at 11:41 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 and discovered a fire in a small room of the home and put it out with a fire extinguisher.
Smoke was then vented from the home.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
East Jefferson crews were assisted by a unit from the Naval Magazine Indian Island.
With the Christmas season upon us, East Jefferson Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Pete Brummel noted it is especially important to pay attention to potential fire hazards, including electric and propane room heaters, fireplaces and stoves, unwatched cooktops and ovens, holiday lighting, overloaded electric outlets, and frayed extension cords.
