Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a home to go up in flames.
Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of West Gilbert Road just before 7:00 pm. Tuesday night.
More than a dozen firefighters battled the flames of the fully engulfed home.
Two dogs were found dead, according to authorities.
The location of the house made it difficult for crews to get there and have access to fire hydrants, according to firefighters.
They say that wasn't the only challenge they faced.
"It was a very large fire. A large amount of fire which is unusual. Normally fires get reported a lot sooner and the location out here is more remote, " said Jennifer Horton of the Yakima Fire Department.
Crews spent more than an hour mopping up hot spots.
Firefighters say fortunately there was no one at the home, besides the two dogs.
