Do you remember the attack of the tumbleweeds from New Year's Eve? Now fire crews are attacking back.
In an event troopers could only describe as "Tumblegeddon", hundreds (thousands?) of the balls of weed blew across SR 240 around 6:30 p.m., startling some drivers and leaving others buried under mounds that reached 20-30 feet high in spots, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews even used snow plows to try and clear the roads in a 10-hour effort that stretched well into the new year.
Troopers said that while tumbleweeds seem harmless, the sheer number of them proved daunting.
