In addition to closing schools and canceling events, the winter storm is impacting emergency response efforts in Whatcom County. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says the snow has slowed down the response times of Fire Service, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medical Service. In combination with strong winds, the snow has caused many trees to fall, resulting in closed roads county-wide, with some areas still isolated. Several agencies are out restoring power, clearing roads, and assessing conditions as the winter weather continues.
