A 2-alarm fire is burning a commercial building in Seattle's International District Thursday morning, sending a thick column of smoke across the neighborhood and nearby freeways. The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. in the 800 block of S. Weller Street and quickly advanced to a second alarm, according to Seattle Fire. Flames were spotted coming from a second story of the three-story building unit and firefighters said the second story is in danger of collapse. Officials are asking nearby residents and businesses to close their windows and doors to prevent smoke inhalation. The smoke is drifting across the nearby I-5 and I-90 interchange forcing some ramp closures. Firefighters declared the flames under control just before 7 a.m. and there are no reports of anyone injured. Investigators have yet to determine what started the fire.
