Washington state's confirmed COVID-19 case total exceeded 30,000 Thursday, just one day before Governor Jay Inslee's statewide mask mandate will be in effect.
The Washington State Department of Health reported 30,367 COVID-19 cases, up 498 from Wednesday, and 1,300 deaths, up seven from the state's last coronavirus report.
There have been 4,106 people hospitalized due to the complications of the virus.
State officials have tested over half a million people in Washington (505,795), with six percent of the tests returning as positive. Over four percent of all confirmed COVID-19 cases have died because of the deadly disease.
In response to the new data, Inslee said Tuesday the state is imposing a mandatory requirement that people wear masks when they are outside their homes as officials struggle to contain the virus.
