The statewide death toll from coronavirus climbed to an estimated 132 Wednesday as King County reported six more people had died of the disease there and Pierce County reported its second death.
The Pierce County victim was a Spanaway man in his 70s who died of complications from COVID-19, officials said. No information was immediately available about the six new victims in King County.
Snohomish County reported no new deaths since Tuesday. Updated results from other counties were not immediately available.
The new death count is the second highest among the 50 U.S. states. New York, with 285 deaths, is the highest.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to grow in Washington state.
King County remains the hardest-hit county, reporting 82 new cases on Wednesday. Snohomish County reported 20 new cases and Pierce County confirmed 17 new cases. That brings the statewide total of confirmed cases in Washington state to at least 2,588.
