A woman was killed in a residential fire in Ferndale on Monday. Firefighters from Whatcom County Fire District 7 responded to a report of a residential fire in the 7200 block of Enterprise Road at about 11:15am. A man and woman were reportedly trapped inside. Fire Chief Larry Hoffman tells KGMI the man was able to escape, but efforts from bystanders to rescue the woman were unsuccessful. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke coming from the home and Hoffman says they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
