A two-alarm fire at a home Sunday in the town of Vaughn on the Key Peninsula claimed the lives of two people, fire officials said. Firefighters were called to the 18000 block of 95th Street Court Northwest where a fire was burning in the basement. Firefighters confirmed they found two people dead in the basement after several people reported hearing explosions come from the home. When crews first arrived, they said no fire hydrants were in the area, which made it difficult to contain the fire and search the home. Investigators have not said what caused the fire but are investigating the incident.
