A disturbing trend is happening on Washington roads while traffic remains below the norm --- the early months of 2020 have proven to be deadly for motorcycles.
You've heard about state troopers pulling over cars going 100 miles per hour or more on a semi regular basis during this coronavirus pandemic as overall traffic remains light and fatalities are down.
But a recent deadly motorcycle crash Tuesday is another grim reminder, although it doesn't reflect the most recent death statistics, of the increases traffic experts are seeing. The incident happened on Pacific Avenue at South 27th Street in Tacoma.
However, 12 motorcycle riders died in April alone. That many motorcycle deaths haven't occurred in the month of April since 2006. Between May 3-10, eight riders were killed in collisions in the single week.
The Washington State Traffic Safety Commission says those staggering numbers have added to a total of 24 rider deaths thus far in 2020.
