Washington state health officials reported more than 1,300 new coronavirus cases Sunday, as cases continue to surge across the state.
In total, the Washington State Department of Health reported 1,320 new coronavirus cases and eight additional hospitalizations. State health officials are no longer reporting deaths on the weekend, instead reported deaths will be included in Monday's total.
On Saturday, Washington state reported its highest-ever number of daily new coronavirus cases for the second day in a row. The state reported 1,777 new cases on Saturday and 1,691 new cases on Friday.
The latest surge of new confirmed COVID-19 cases pushes the statewide total since the start of the pandemic to 117,331 confirmed coronavirus cases. Some 8,803 people have been hospitalized with coronavirus during that time, and 2,439 people have died in Washington state.
