Last week, Clark County Fire District 3 recognized 11 employees and a board member for a combined total of nearly 200 years of service. Recipients of awards ranged from five to 40 years of service with Fire District 3.
“We appreciate the dedication and service that our employees and board members provide to our community everyday,” Fire Chief Scott Sorenson said in a news release. “We also want to thank their family members. Working in emergency services is not a nine-to-five job, and couldn’t happen without their support.”
Chief Sorenson himself is a 40-year veteran of Fire District 3. He joined as a volunteer firefighter during his senior year of high school and stuck around because of the close-knit community and people working at the fire district.
“We are a huge family that works to serve others in our community,” Sorenson said. “I show up every day and am grateful to be with the hardworking women and men who make up this department.”
