A 9-year-old boy has died after a fire broke out at a Skagit County home Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. County fire officials said a neighbor across the street saw the blaze at the home at 5864 Campbell Lake Road and called authorities. Fire crews from 10 different agencies responded to the blaze. Family members who had evacuated told firefighters the boy was still inside in a back bedroom. Firefighters made their way through the flames and pulled the boy out. The young victim was rushed for treatment to Island Hospital in Anacortes, where he died. The boy's identity was pending. Officials said the nearest fire hydrant was a half-mile away so crews had to truck water to the scene. It was the second deadly fire in the North Sound Tuesday afternoon. Earlier in the day around noon, a fire broke out at a home in the 20400 block of 64th Drive NE.
