A town's best friend and community icon is being remembered by the Naches Fire Department with a display case in his honor.
For nearly 30 years Scott "Scooter" Lounsbury volunteered as a fire fighter in the small town. Too many, he was the pillar of what it meant to be a friend.
"Scott was that kinda guy, he would be a poster child for that," Alan Baird, chief of Naches Fire said.
Inside the new Naches fire department building, a display case hangs holding Lounsbury's uniform, a picture of him and a commemorative axe bearing his name.
Last November, Lounsbury was on his way home when a motorist collided with him. Authorities would soon declare him dead.
The devastating news crushed many in the town.
"We were notified he passed away and I, I collapsed in the kitchen floor," Elliot Baker, a friend of Lounsbury said.
