Crews from Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded to reports of a structure fire on Indiana Avenue in Rock Island just after 10 Monday morning. PIO Kay McKellar said calls reported lots of black smoke coming from a residence, but as firefighters arrived they discovered an unattached structure fully involved. “It was a shared shed for storage between two houses.” McKellar explained, “The contents and the shed were pretty much destroyed.” There were no injuries and the fire was knocked down in about an hour and a half. Although the source of the fire is still undetermined, it’s possible the blaze was caused by a heater.
