One person died and another was injured after a mobile home caught fire in Covington early Tuesday morning. According to Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, firefighters responded to reports of a mobile home fire on the 28400 block of 168th Ave SE around 12:50 a.m. Neighbors heard an explosion shortly beforehand and tried to put the fire out before crews arrived. Crews entered the burning residence and pulled two people from the flames. The woman who survived the fire said she ran out of the home after she and her partner tried to put the fire out themselves. One person was taken to a local hospital with superficial burn injuries and released. The other was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the fire was accidental and caused by an overloaded electrical power strip, Puget Sound Fire said. The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
