The people and the family dog had evacuated before firefighters arrived at a house fire in Port Ludlow. Firefighters rescued a lizard and bearded dragon from the flames. East Jefferson Fire Rescue firefighters arrived at the home in the 100 block of Fir Circle in Port Hadlock at about 10 p.m. Sunday night. A garage fire had spread to the attic of the attached one-story wood-frame home. The fire was extinguished within a half-hour of arrival but, due to extensive burned material in the garage and attic, overhaul lasted throughout the night. Overhaul ensures that no embers or hotspots remain after a fire is extinguished. The cause of the fire is under investigation. EJFR was assisted by units from Port Ludlow, Quilcene, Naval Magazine Indian Island, Kitsap County and Clallam County.
