PHOTOS: Crews battled two boat fires that erupted on the Tacoma waterfront overnight. Firefighters raced to the scene, on the Thea Foss Waterway in the 700 block of Dock Street, at about 2:20 a.m. after receiving reports of two vessels engulfed in flames with people possibly trapped on the dock. Crews evacuated everyone from the scene and began battling the flames on a 35-foot vessel and a 43-foot vessel moored at a marina there. A fire boat was also called in to help. Both boats eventually sunk after firefighters beat back the flames. Booms have been deployed around the sunken vessel to contain any potentially hazardous fluids from spreading further into the waters there. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fires is under investigation.
