A woman and a 2-year-old child were rescued by firefighters Wednesday night, Jan.20 after a garage fire spread throughout an Auburn home. Around 11:40 p.m. near the 30100 block of 50th Lane S., crews from South King Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a possible fire at a townhome, said Capt. Brad Chaney of South King Fire and Rescue. While crews were en route, they learned a young woman and a 2-year-old child were trapped inside the home. Engine 365 arrived to find a fully-involved garage fire quickly spreading to the rest of the home, Chaney said. The crew began making an aggressive attack on the fire to buy time for the occupants trapped inside and started searching the residents. Crews from Ladder Truck 364 arrived and conducted a 360-degree walk around the structure, during which they discovered on the back side of the home, the mother was hanging out of the window with smoke billowing out from around her, Chaney said.
