A 15-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a fire broke out in a South Seattle home early Friday morning. Someone inside the burning home called 911 just before 4 a.m. to report flames were coming from their home in the 9300 block of 39th Ave. South, according to David Cuerpo with Seattle Fire. Firefighters arrived to find four people who had made it out immediately report there was a fifth person still inside the home. Firefighters raced inside and found the boy gravely injured inside a second-story bedroom and carried him outside as flames raced up the stairwell, Cuerpo said. Medics rushed the boy to Harborview Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. Three others who had escaped were treated at the scene by other medics for minor injuries. Cuerpo said it's unclear yet what started the fire, but it appears to have started in the basement and had spread to the first floor.
