One person is in the hospital after fire broke out at a home in a Tacoma neighborhood, emergency officials said. Crews responded to the home in the 6400 block of East McKinley at about 8:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a possible fire there. Flames were visible from the front of the home when the first firefighters arrived on scene. Crews began battling the fire and found one victim suffering from smoke inhalation. That victim was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital. The flames were doused and crews are checking for any possible hot spots. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
