The death toll from the unprecedented heat wave last weekend has now been linked to at least 29 fatalities in western Washington.
On Thursday, the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed nine heat related deaths and Snohomish County reported three.
According to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office, a 51-year-old male, a 75-year-old male, and a 77-year-old male died from hyperthermia.
At least 13 people in King County and at least four in Thurston county also died from the heat, officials say.
Two deaths were reported in Franklin County, and seven in Spokane.
As the heat-related death toll mounts, there is a prediction that we are likely to have more of these extreme heat waves. King County Health Officer Dr. Jeff Duchin said climate change is real and a cause for concern.
