Three people were displaced from a home northwest of Maltby after a fire Thursday afternoon.
A homeowner arrived at his two-story house around 2:40 p.m. in the 18600 block of 65th Ave SE and heard crackling, Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue spokesperson Heather Chadwick said. He found a fire on the back deck and tried to extinguish it, but it spread. He called 911.
All three members of the household suffered no injuries, Chadwick said. One pet was found safe and another remained unaccounted for after 4 p.m.
Fire crews had a difficult time fighting it because there were no hydrants nearby, Chadwick said. They used multiple tenders to supply water. Crews responded from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue, Woodinville Fire & Rescue, South County Fire and Snohomish County Fire District 4.
