Firefighters appear to be winning the battle against the Northrup Fire burning near Steamboat Rock just south of Grand Coulee. Due to better mapping, the fire is now 247 acres. The blaze is 95% contained. As a result of significant progress on the firefighting front, all evacuations for homes in the area have been cancelled. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The blaze was sparked just off of SR 155 near Steamboat Rock Thursday evening.
