VIDEO: Three people died after a crash involving a car and a firetruck near Loon Lake on Monday afternoon. WSDOT East tweeted that both directions of Hwy 395 reopened Tuesday morning. The crash occurred at 4 p.m. at US 395 northbound and Grote Road, close to milepost 187. KREM's Casey Decker was at the scene and spoke to officials about how the incident occurred. According to Spokane Fire, a Stevens County D1 truck was headed to a call with its lights and sirens on, when a car entered its lane and hit it head on at full speed. All three passengers in that car died at the scene. The firefighters had non life threatening injuries. A life flight helicopter was called but no patients were taken in it since all three passengers died so quickly.
