Crews are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a detached garage at a Port of Centralia-owned property in the 1100 block of Alder Street Wednesday morning.
While the 24-by-30 foot structure is still standing, it has been deemed not structurally sound.
Riverside Fire Authority and the Chehalis Fire Department responded to the initial call at 9:40 a.m. and “first arriving crews found the fire well involved in the garage area,” said Riverside Fire Captain Scott Weinert.
Crews were able to “put the fire out fairly quickly,” said Weinert, but all the building’s contents were destroyed.
One individual was evacuated from a house located in front of the garage on the property. No injuries were reported.
