A Jefferson County man and his granddaughter were injured by an improvised explosive device Tuesday night in Port Hadlock.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports neighbors called in numerous reports of loud explosions happening in the 700 block of Nesses Corner Road. While responding to the scene, deputies got another call reporting a man with a chest injury and fully amputated left arm.
Deputies and firefighters arrived to find a structure behind a house that was fully enveloped in fire. They set to giving aid to the victim, but also found that a 6-year-old girl, grandchild of the suspect, had sustained burns to her head.
Detectives got a search warrant for the property and brought along members of the FBI and the Washington State Patrol bomb squad.
