Washington state reached a grime milestone Wednesday, eclipsing 5,000 COVID-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Washington Department of Health reported 795 new COVID-19 cases, 33 additional hospitalizations and 24 more deaths in the past 24 hours.
State health officials have confirmed 342,236 coronavirus cases, 19,466 hospitalizations and 5,012 deaths since the pandemic began.
Governor Jay Inslee released a statement Wednesday after Washington state surpassed 5,000 COVID-19 related deaths.
“As we recognize the loss of 5,000 Washingtonians to COVID-19, let us both mourn for the families who have lost loved ones and be thankful for the Washingtonians who have pitched in to prevent further passing," Inslee said.
