The sale and use of fireworks could get banned in some parts of King County, according to KOMO. King County Council members are considering the proposed measure this week, and if it passes, would ban the sale and discharging of fireworks in unincorporated parts of the county. Council members Joe McDermott and Claudia Balducci are sponsoring the proposal. Public displays would still be allowed under the proposed measure, but a permit would be needed from the fire marshal's office. The maximum fine would increase from $250 per day to $1,000 per day, reporters learned. Violations would still be considered a misdemeanor, they added. "While many cities within King County have already banned fireworks, including Seattle, people can light off fireworks in unincorporated areas on the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve," KOMO wrote.
