Holding an umbrella with a flower print on the inside, Julia Post stood by her family Sunday morning, looking at the damage a fire caused to their condominium. They lost nearly everything but the 7-year-old’s quick thinking helped them escape with their lives.
“The house is gone,” Julia said in her soft voice. “Stuff is gone. I didn’t get any of my valuables.”
Her Pokemon-themed stuffed animals, her bike, and her scooter that she had named “Raspberry” were all burned up in the Friday night fire that quickly spread to neighboring units at the Sixty-01 Village condominium complex.
“The whole room was just filled up and stuff with smoke,” said Julia. She had nearly fallen asleep for the night and raced to wake up her father who had been resting, battling a migraine.
