A woman's SUV caught fire on her way home in Yakima on Wednesday evening after she says she had just bought it with the money from her stimulus check.
Firefighters responded to multiple calls of a car fire around 6:00 pm, according to Yakima City fire crews at the scene.
The driver said she bought the older model Jeep Grand Cherokee for $1,200 the same day she received her $1,400 stimulus check.
She got off the Nob Hill Boulevard exit from I-82 when she noticed smoke coming out of the compartment.
The woman was able to get out of her car uninjured.
Firefighters told Action News the blaze was sparked by an electrical problem in the car.
Crews were able to put out the fire, but not until after it spread through the entire SUV.
People nearby heard the loud sounds of popping tires as the flames spread.
