One person suffered minor burns and three puppies were rescued when a fire broke out in an encampment in Monroe Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. along a steep, brushy hillside in the 19900 block of Woods Creek Road, according to Heather Chadwick with Snohomish Fire District No. 7.
As firefighters worked to douse the flames, they found three puppies at the scene who had suffered some minor burns. Animal control officers were brought to the scene to help treat the puppies.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters went to look for hot spots and came across a man who had suffered minor burns, Chadwick said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
It's unclear what exactly started the fire.
