Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue is investigating what sparked a fire inside the historic Clymer Museum of Art on Monday morning. Crews dispatched to the museum at around 2:20 a.m. after several automated fire alarm systems went off. When firefighters first entered the building they found smoke coming from the second floor. A search was conducted, but no people were found inside the museum at the time of the fire. Fire crews worked quickly and were able to contain the fire to just the rear portion of the second floor. Authorities say no injuries were reported, but the fire and smoke caused about $5,000 in damage. Fire officials say the fire alarms prevented the blaze from causing a lot more damage. "We would like to emphasize the value of fire alarm systems and can point to this example as a situation where the automated fire alarm system may have saved this historic building and other historic structures neighboring it."
