Grant County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from Royal Slope Fire & Rescue arrived to a frightening sight Monday morning when they responded to a plane flipped onto its top about nine miles northwest of Royal City. PIO Kyle Foreman said 83-year-old Dwain Forester thankfully was not in flight when he and his 1960 Cessna 175B went belly up near Road 11 Southwest and Beverly Burke Road Southwest. “What Mr. Forester stated was that, after landing, he was attempting a 180-degree turn to taxi back along the private airstrip.” explained Foreman, “While he was making that turn, apparently a gust of wind came and caught the plane and flipped it onto its top.” Forester sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by his family.
