Woman found deceased in Kennewick home after explosion, fire

Kennewick firefighters discovered the body of a woman in her 60s inside a home after responding to a report of an explosion and fire at the residence. Firefighters responded to the house fire located at 228 North Quincy Street at 6:15 PM Monday evening. The home is located to the east of the Zintel Creek Golf Club. The first responding firefighters did not see any active fire from the exterior of the house. Firefighters say they did discover a small fire directly inside the entry way of the home. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire very quickly. We are told there was also evidence of a small explosion in the area of the fire. Firefighters also discovered the body of a woman in her mid, to late 60s near the origin of the fire. Her cause of death is not known at this time.
