Firefighters responded to a house fire in Spokane Valley Saturday morning, leaving the people living there displaced. Spokane County Fire District 8 worked with Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) to put out the fire at 1906 S. Progress Rd. SVFD said the fire in the garage spread into the living and dining rooms of the house. Fire crews were able to prevent a majority of the home from being destroyed by the fire. Crews had to also cut holes into the roof to remove hazardous biproducts. They stopped the fire in the living room area with some smoke damage to the rest of the house. SVFD said the garage was a total loss along with a travel trailer parked outside next to it. Everyone in the home was able to get out safely, but SVFD said they are now displaced. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
