He’s been in fire service for more than three decades, the past three years at the Lynden Fire Department.
Mark Billmire, the city’s fire chief, says the thing he likes best about his work is “helping and providing service to our community.”
“Most times when people call 9-1-1 for the fire department, they are having a really bad day, and we get to respond and do what we can to help them,” he says. “It’s one of the best feelings in the world.”
Billmire first became a firefighter back in 1988 with the Ogden Fire Department and has worked his way “up through the ranks with three other departments, holding almost every position in the fire service.”
A Ferndale resident, Billmire and his wife live in the Wiser Heights subdivision off West Wiser Lake Road, only five minutes from Lynden.”
