The Schneider Springs Fire has now surpassed 100,000 acres, but crews say containment has now increased to 17%. According to the Schneider Springs Fire FB page, the fire progression continued steadily along the northern edges of the fire as expected. The fire was primarily backing and flanking to the north, but did make short uphill runs through receptive fuels. Crews focused on structure protection efforts to protect cabins along the Highway 410 corridor, should the fire become established on the west side of American Ridge. On the western flank of the fire, crews used hand ignitions supported by aerial bucket work to secure critical holding points north of Goose Prairie in the Bumping River corridor. Mechanical work proceeded along Forest Road (FR) 1706 and 1709 to provide a secure firing line to conduct burnout operations and protect structures in the Lost Creek area.
