PHOTO: Orting Valley Fire & Rescue had to overcome a few challenges Tuesday afternoon.
Around 6 p.m. Sept. 27, the fire department received a call about people stuck inside a house while fire erupted in a detached garage. The house was on the outskirts of the city near Orville Road East and Card Road East.
Crews arrived about eight minutes after they received the call. The two adults stuck in the house got out before the fire department arrived, fire chief Zane Gibson said. Crews also located a cat in the house shortly after. No one was injured.
“It was challenging with a really good outcome,” Gibson said.
The house sat on a narrow, one-lane road, making it difficult for multiple vehicles to come through. There was no water supply nearby, which required the fire department to bring three water tender trucks that held 9,000 gallons of water total.
