Seattle police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon in connection to a massive fire that involved dozens of boats at a boat storage facility near the Ship Canal Bridge and Lake Union early Wednesday morning. Seattle Fire Department (SFD) Deputy Chief Tom Walsh said more than 100 firefighters responded to the Seattle Boat Company, located on the 700 block of Northeast Northlake Way after reports of the fire started coming in around 2 a.m. Wednesday. When crews arrived, Walsh said thick black smoke was coming from the fire and flames were estimated to be 50-70 feet in the air. The SFD said crews found a man on one of the boats docked near the fire. The 32-year-old was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition where he was questioned by police. According to the Seattle Police Department, detectives in the Arson Bomb Squad identified the man as a suspect in the fire.
