VIDEO/PHOTOS: A semi-truck rolled over and caught fire on northbound I-5 in Fife Tuesday afternoon.
The Washington State Dept. of Transportation (WSDOT) tweeted that the collision was reported at 2:22 p.m. on northbound I-5 at the Port of Tacoma exit.
Cleanup efforts went into the evening, and at 10:43 p.m., WSDOT tweeted that traffic was getting by in the left lane and HOV lane on I-5. A spokesperson with Washington State Patrol (WSP) said the driver appeared to have fallen asleep before he hit a barrier.
Someone helped the driver out of the cab before first responders arrived, WSP said. A spokesperson with the Tacoma Fire Department said the driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center, and WSP said the driver had serious injuries.
