Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 and the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) will conduct training exercises in a former commercial building, thanks to a donation from Frontier Behavioral Health.
According to SFD, the building, which is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new patient clinic, will serve as a crucial training ground for the firefighters. The training, set for Sept. 17-19 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., will focus on essential skills such as laddering and ventilating commercial roof structures, conducting victim searches in low-visibility conditions, and navigating large open spaces. Firefighters will also practice deploying hose lines over extended distances, which are often required in commercial fires compared to residential incidents.
