The latest: Unusually hot and dry weather fuelled an aggressive start to the fire season, with one central B.C. blaze triggering an evacuation order and a local state of emergency over the second weekend of May. Both have since been rescinded, though an evacuation alert remains in place.The Lejac fire, as it’s called, was discovered May 11 east of Fraser Lake and had grown to 260 hectares by the following morning.
