Seven Colorado first responders lost their homes while battling flames from the East Troublesome Fire and now the Grand Lake Fire Department is turning to the community for help.
As of Tuesday afternoon, just two days since the launch of the fundraiser, more than $148,000 has been raised to help the seven first responders who lost their homes in the Grand Lake area while fighting the East Troublesome Fire.
"The East troublesome Fire ripped through the heart of Grand Lake and took homes left and right," the GoFundMe page states. "Seven of those homes belonged to the first responders that gave all their energy, sleep, and time to protect their community against this tragedy."
Ellie St. Germain, wife to Seth St. Germain who is the Assistant Fire Chief of Grand Lake Fire, launched the GoFundMe page to offer some relief to those seven first responders who lost their homes. In just two days, the page has raised more than $148,000 of its $500,000 goal.
