A newly released 10-year strategy lays out the U.S. Department of Agriculture's plan to tackle large wildfires. The 10-year plan is going to take a lot of time to implement, but over the next few months, residents will start to notice the beginning stages starting off with clearing debris off the mountains. Ryan Hoffman is a paramedic with Golder Ranch Fire District. He says that after the Bighorn Fire more mitigation is needed along the mountains. "We have a vast area where we want to mitigate fires as much as possible. It takes a lot more resources and people to handle something like a wildfire versus a house fire," said Hoffman. "They [US Forestry] will go in and cut the trees down and that need to be cut. They will burn them during the winter season when it's cold and it's more humid and it's safe to do."
