A large fire in the Town of Westport is still burning as of 9:30 a.m., but firefighters say the house was slated to be used for a controlled burn anyway. The house at 5919 Oncken Road was abandoned, according to the Middleton Fire Department. They told our affiliate in Madison, WKOW, they were going to use it for controlled burn training soon. Five fire departments helped with the large fire Monday morning. No one was in the home and no firefighters were hurt battling the large flames. As of 9:30 a.m., the home is still smoking and there are still flames and hot spots firefighters have to deal with. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
