Children’s arms were loaded with toys and area police officers and firefighters followed them with wide grins on their faces Saturday. On both sides of the state line, children were treated to holiday shopping excursions guided by men and women from Beloit, South Beloit and Town of Beloit police and fire departments. On the Wisconsin side 170 children were treated to the day of shopping courtesy of the Shop with a Hero program, hosted by the Beloit and Town of Beloit police and fire departments at the Beloit Walmart Supercenter. On the Illinois side the South Beloit Police Department was hosting Shop with a Cop which kicked off with a breakfast for about 24 kids and their families at the Sand Castle Center.
